Bucket List

I got a note on Facebook the other day. A list of activities that I was supposed to check if I've done. The thing is, I had no interest in doing probably half of these things. Many of them involved going very fast or very high. Two things I am not fond of - especially in combination. Some of them involved travel to places I have no interest in going (because I don't like the food or the government. I know, I know...).

So, I thought I would start my own Bucket List. You know the premise - things I would like to do before I kick the bucket. I thought I would start keeping track of them. Not bcause you particularly care, but because it might prove helpful for me one day to have them all in one place. So, here it goes.

1. See Jack happy, healthy and successful.
2. Take in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with my family.
3. See La Boheme at The Met.
4. Spend a month in New York in the fall just taking in art in all its forms.
5. Visit Italy for an extended period of time.
6. Travel to Israel and actually feel safe.
7. Grow really, really old, fat and happy with my husband.
8. A week in California wine country.
9. Write a memoir.
10. Make peace with my past.

Ten seems like a good starter. Have things you might like to share? I'm looking to grow the list and overflow my bucket :)

I don't have one and have often thought I should. A couple weeks ago I sang karaoke for the first time and posted on FB that I'd scratched something off the bucket list. But I lied. I have no such list, and if I did, the only way 'sing karaoke' would've been on it would've been if it was an awful damn long list!!!

I'm with you on the Mediterranean thing...

The memoir I have tried and tried and tried and failed and failed and failed at. My life isn't as intriguing as I thought it was and my writing isn't as interesting as I'd allowed myself to become convinced it was. Sigh.

I think that's a big part of the crisis I'm currently working my way through. I have no tangible goals. Perhaps I should force myself to sit down and put a couple out there as you've done...

Thanks for (possibly) lighting a fire under my ample ass.

What a good, thoughtful list -- way better than skydiving and heliskiing, which are just for adrenaline junkies. I don't know if I could figure out my own bucket list, but you've got me thinking. I share pretty much all of your wishes here, except for #3 and #6. I'm just as touched by music as most people are, and I've never had an urge to go to Israel. Oh, and #9 is a killer for me. I'd like to write a book of essays, and I think I might be pretty disappointed in myself if I never manage to swing it. Additions? I'd like to visit the Black Forest in Austria. While i'm in Austria anyway, I think I'll want to go atop that mountain where Julie Andrews played Maria Von Trapp, and spin around with my arms up in the air singing "Climb Every Mountain!"

Meant to say "...just NOT as touched by music..." And I so wish I were.
